Silicone Cupcake Molds + Melt & Pour

I've recently come across a stash of different shaped ice cube trays. Fruits, flowers, fish...  I've collected them all. They're great for mini bath bombs or bath melts and also for making these little soap toppers. Since I also have a stash of silicone cupcake molds I thought I should put these things to use. Above I've made  some citrus slice soaps to go on individual cupcakes.  For the lime green ones, I used some goat milk and coloured glycerin soap scented with Lime essential oil. I let the soap harden in the individual silicone molds, they were really easy to unmold. Then I just used a little melted soap to glue the little soap slice to the top.

For the Yellow (Lemon scented ) ones, I wanted to try slightly embedding the soap slice. I left a little space at the top of the mold when I made the bases, and once the soap had a nice thick skin, I sprayed  it with some rubbing alcohol and added a little more melted soap. You can see from the photo I kind of overfilled the mold, I was going for a kind of messy look, which I thought would look more like frosting. Then I added the yellow soap slice.

After the soap hardened and I took it out of the mold, I did rub the top down with a clean, dry dish cloth, just to smooth off a few little bubbles. I prefer the soaps with the slice embedded but both ways are really fun and easy to do.

Thanks for looking!
